Exciting Changes Coming to The Circle

This May, the VBT Circle will get a new half-court basketball court, bringing more recreational opportunities to the area. The court, measuring 30′ x 30′, will include a 10′ fence to ensure safety, keeping basketballs within the court and out of the street.

Brandon Emmick, a board member of the HOA, will manage the project, ensuring a smooth installation. The court will initially feature a half-court design but will be expanded in the future to a full-sized basketball court. Plans are also in place to incorporate pickleball and potentially swings, creating a more family-friendly space.

Seeding Delayed Until After Court Installation

Seeding the area around the Circle will be put on hold until the basketball court is installed. This will allow for better planning and execution of landscaping, ensuring the space remains both functional and visually appealing.

Giving Kids Something to Do

The new basketball court will provide kids with a safe, fun space to play, stay active, and socialize. This will be especially valuable in encouraging physical activity and reducing screen time. Future additions like swing sets will further enhance the space, making it an even more attractive destination for families.

Community Input Shapes the Project

Before moving forward with the basketball court project, the board posted a survey on the Deer Valley HOA Facebook page to gather feedback from residents. A total of 163 community members participated, with 84% in favor of the project and 15% opposed. Among the responses, safety emerged as a top concern. In response, the design includes a 10-foot fence to keep basketballs within the court and away from the street, directly addressing these concerns and ensuring a safer environment for everyone.

Turning VBT Circle Into a Recreational Hub

This basketball court represents more than just a place to play — it’s a step toward transforming the VBT Circle into a vibrant, accessible recreational area. The project will foster a stronger sense of community by providing an outdoor space for residents to engage in physical activity, socialize, and enjoy the neighborhood.

Physical activities like basketball and pickleball will promote well-being, reduce stress, and help build connections among neighbors. With more facilities, this area will also help improve the overall appeal of the neighborhood, benefiting both current residents and newcomers.

Looking Ahead: Future Expansion Plans

Future plans for the Circle include expanding the court to full size and adding additional recreational features, such as swings and other amenities. These upgrades will ensure the space remains versatile and valuable for all ages.

Emmick’s leadership will help bring this vision to life, making the Circle a dynamic, welcoming space for all residents. With continued investment, this project is set to significantly enhance the Deer Valley neighborhood, providing a place for outdoor activities, community connection, and a healthier lifestyle.
