Trees offer numerous benefits to communities in terms of aesthetics, property value, and environmental quality. But sometimes it is necessary to remove a tree, either because of extensive storm damage, weakening from pest and diseases, or old age.
A large tree on Valley Brook Trace was removed from the traffic circle; the process was not an easy task. Many questioned the reasoning behind the felling.
“A big portion of the tree was dead and the rest was dying,” said Nathan English, HOA Vice President. “It was the best option due to safety and liability.”
Feedback from the community has sparked several ideas for ways to utilize the area now. Some suggested turning it into a park with either swings, picnic tables, or a basketball court. A few even thought it would be beneficial to just keep it the way it already is – an empty lot.
Nothing has been confirmed yet as to what, when, or if anything at all will be done with the area. As of now, the plan is to keep it low maintenance with only grass and flowers.
